There are four primary polyphenols in green tea & they are often collectively known as catechins.
Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is one of most powerful polyphenol and it has anti-oxidant properties. Antioxidants are involved in the prevention of cellular damage -- the common pathway for cancer, aging, and other diseases. EGCG is 100 more more powerful than vitamin C and 25 times more effective than vitamin E at protecting cells & DNA from damage.
Recent researches and studies have shown the benefits of Green Tea. There have been many on-going researches on EGCG for it's anti-cancer and anti-HIV properties.
